March 20, 2008 Foothill hosted the first dual meet of the season with Dougherty Valley on Thursday, with only the freshmen and sophomores in action, as Dougherty Valley only has freshmen and sophomores at their school this year. Through the cold and wind Foothill was able to squeak out a sweep for both teams on the day, as the boys and girls brought it on the track and in the field! For the boys, the running crews showed what they are made of. From the distance runners (Omar Gonzalez- 2 wins, 1 2nd) to the sprints (Sam Vanderbilt - 2 wins) to finally the 1600m relay team (frosh-soph record 3:38.39!), the boys had some phenomenal performances. In a nail biter for the girls that came down to the 1600m relay, the girls squeaked out a win by ONE POINT over a very strong Dougherty Valley team. While going back and forth on the track, the girls were paced with very strong performances in the field. Sweeping the high jump (Jordan Craig, Kristin Pederson, Christy Kwok), a first in the pole vault (Jordan Craig), and a first-second in the shot put (Ashley Moreno, Sam Smith) helped to put the girls over the top!
